In 1977, when Karen St. Clair was in high school, she won the Young Talent in Oklahoma Award. That same year, she entered the National Scholastic Portfolio competition in New York and won a full scholarship to study art at the University of Tulsa.
Karen became Art Director of Striegel Advertising and worked as Advertising Director for Aberson’s and Miss Jackson’s, Tulsa’s iconic upscale department store. In 1982, she won an ADDY Award from the American Advertising Federation for her design work on the PBS Series Profiles in American Art.
From 1998-2015, Karen raised a family and taught art at Skiatook High School. In 2015, she was named Teacher of the Year.
Since 2015, she has returned to her art full time. She is an active member of American Watercolor Society, Oklahoma Pastel Society, and International Association of Pastel Societies.
Karen has traveled and painted in Italy, France, and the UK, but living in the beautiful tall grass prairie of Oklahoma, she is never at a loss for subject matter.
